From Motherhood to Legacy: Precious Gaylor’s Journey Into Birthwork

A Community Built Through Doula Training

At bebo mia, our full spectrum doula training is more than education, it’s a community. We support students in becoming fertility doulas, birth doulas, and postpartum care providers through a live, online classroom experience. Our doula scholarship program helps make this journey more accessible to all.

A Journey Rooted in Love and Motherhood

Hi friends! My name is Precious Jazmina Diamond Gaylor, and I’m beyond grateful (and honestly still a little in shock!) to be one of the scholarship recipients for the Bebo Mia training program. 🩷

A Child Who Became Her Greatest Purpose

I’m a proud mama of a sweet little boy named Bryshae. He is truly my entire world—my reason, my drive, and my greatest joy. Every dream I chase and every step I take is for him, to build a brighter future. Becoming his mom reshaped my life in the most beautiful way and showed me just how strong and resilient I really am.

I grew up facing a lot of obstacles, and for much of my life, I had to rely on my own strength to navigate life’s obstacles. So now, being able to create the safe, loving, and supportive environment I once needed—for my son and for other families—is incredibly important to me.

A Moment That Sparked a New Beginning

When I saw the chance to apply for this scholarship, something inside me lit up. I knew this was my moment. Being a young mom, juggling life, school, and raising my baby, has its challenges—but I’ve never let that stop me from dreaming big.

This scholarship isn’t just about taking a program—it’s about stepping into my calling, investing in myself, and showing my son what it looks like to follow your purpose, even when the path isn’t easy.

Finding Community Through Bebomia

I’ve been following Bebo Mia for a while, and what really drew me in was the sense of community. It’s clear that this isn’t just about learning skills—it’s about joining a family that lifts each other up, celebrates each other, and believes in the power of birthwork to make a real difference.

I want to be in a space like that—where I’m not just gaining knowledge, but being mentored, encouraged, and inspired by people who truly understand the heart of this work. Being in that kind of community will help me grow into the birthworker I’m meant to be.

A Birth Experience That Changed Everything

The moment I became a mom, I felt like a birthworker at heart.

I had a water birth at North Houston Birth Center with the incredible Mrs. Kathleen Giessen as my midwife, and it was life-changing. The peace I felt—the way my body was respected, my choices honored, and my baby welcomed so gently—was more than I could have imagined.

Before that, I always thought I’d become a registered nurse and work in labor and delivery. But after experiencing Bryshae’s birth, I realized I wanted to do more. I didn’t just want to be there as a nurse—I wanted to create that same calm, safe, and empowering space for other families.

Mrs. Kathleen shared her knowledge with me in a way that changed how I see birth forever. She showed me that birth can be sacred, powerful, and beautiful—and that families deserve care centered on them, not just on medical routines.

A Vision to Build Community Through Care

After completing this program, I plan to grow Precious Life Collective: Birth, Baby, and Beyond into a nurturing, holistic space for families during one of the most transformative times of their lives. I want to provide birth and postpartum doula support, childbirth education, and resources for families who might not otherwise have access to this kind of care.

Every family I work with should feel seen, empowered, and supported—to know their choices matter, that they are strong, and that their birth experience can be beautiful and affirming. I especially want to serve young parents, single moms, and families of color, offering guidance, advocacy, and hands-on support that is both compassionate and culturally informed.

Building a Legacy That Extends Beyond Birth

Looking ahead, I hope to expand Precious Life Collective into a community-centered wellness space, where parents can gather, learn, and receive ongoing support—from pregnancy to postpartum and beyond. My ultimate dream is to create a legacy of care that serves families today and empowers the next generation of parents.

I’m ready to step fully into my purpose as a birthworker—to stand beside parents with love, knowledge, and unwavering support. Every family I guide, every birth I witness, is a chance to honor their strength, celebrate life’s most sacred moments, and create a ripple of care that reaches far beyond the delivery room. This is more than a calling—it’s my promise to the families I serve and to the future I am building.

With love,
Precious🤍
