Building a Future in Birth and Postpartum Doula Care

Behind every scholarship at bebo mia is a future doula changing their community. Our full spectrum doula training supports students across birth, postpartum, fertility, and loss, with a strong foundation in both care and sustainability. We’ve awarded over $500,000 in doula scholarships and doula awards to make this training more accessible. This post is written by one of those recipients.

My name is Jessica Thuma, and I’m deeply honored to receive the bebo mia scholarship as I begin my journey toward becoming a doula.

Discovering the Importance of Support

My interest in birthwork developed as I began learning more about the experiences many people face during pregnancy and birth. I quickly realized that having the right support can make an enormous difference in how these experiences unfold.

A Commitment to Advocacy

I believe strongly in the importance of advocacy and education when it comes to reproductive and maternal health. Supporting people so they can make informed decisions about their care is something that deeply resonates with me.

Why Doula Work Matters

Doulas offer a unique kind of support that centers emotional care, education, and empowerment. Being able to contribute to that kind of work feels both meaningful and necessary.
