We are SO EXCITED to welcome our March 2023 Maternal Support Practitioner (MSP) Cohort to class tonight! We've had a lot of exciting energy happening around this cohort and we are so jazzed to welcome our new students into this course and community! And it all starts with class one at 7pm ET tonight!

We are so thrilled to announce a beautiful, thriving initiative happening out of the Philippines.

While we didn’t know it at the time, the birth of bebo babes ph (Philippines) began in 2020 when Ria, an aspiring birth worker, applied to our scholarship program. Her application was incredible - passionate, innovative and driven to create change in her community in the Philippines, she was the recipient of the Change Maker Award and through this, joined our Maternal Support Practitioner (MSP) program.

Ria shared her love of the MSP program with her friend, Aren, who then applied for our spring 2021 scholarship cohort and was awarded the Philanthropy Award. Word spread to their friend, Monique, who applied to our spring 2022 scholarship program and she also received the Philanthropy Award.

While working on their individual birth worker businesses, Ria, Aren and Monique also formed a collective where they work together to support their communities. A collective felt natural as the trio share the same values, mission and vision for birth work. In just over a year, @bebobabesph has supported 100+ families through childbirth education and prep classes.

In seeing the massive impact that bebo babes ph have had in such a short time, bebo mia inc. felt inspired to get more involved and support the essential work being done in the Philippines.

With this, we are excited to share our collaboration with bebo babes ph to increase access to our MSP program to aspiring birth workers in the Philippines thereby elevating birthing practices for birthers and families locally.

How It Works:
✨for future scholarship rounds, there will be scholarships earmarked for aspiring birth workers in the Philippines in an effort to grow the bebo babes ph collective
✨in addition to the support scholarship recipients receive from bebo mia, they will also receive peer mentorship, a private FB community and continued training from the bebo babes ph

When it comes to understanding what doulas/birth workers *actually* do, there's still lots of misinformation out there! Hands up ✋🏼✋🏼✋🏼 if you or someone you know has ever thought that a birth worker is kinda like a babysitter.

The truth of the matter is, birth workers/doulas play an integral role in the reproductive journeys of their clients, serve as a source of evidence-based information, advocate on their clients' behalf, and crucially, improve the overall experience. Doulas even reduce the likelihood of unnecessary medical interventions such as c-sections AND contribute to better mental health outcomes postpartum!

Hey Community! We're doing something fun and new!

Hey Community! We're doing something fun and new! As you may know, we've been running a monthly book club now for several months. It's been a blast to run and offer! We get together monthly to chat about the latest and greatest in feminist, birth work and healing books!

While we love book club, we know that not everyone has the time or interest in reading so we wanted to offer a new way to stay connected to our community. That new way is movie club! Like book club, we will announce a movie (generally something easy to find on various popular streaming channels) which you can watch in your own time and then we'll gather to discuss it!

We will be rotating monthly between book club and movie club! March is a movie, April will be a book, May will be a movie and so on.

For March's movie club, we will be watching The Lost Daughter (streaming on Netflix) and gathering on Thursday March 16th at 1pm EST to discuss!

We are super excited about integrating movies into our monthly discussions and we hope you will be too!
